โญ A.P.J. Abdul Kalam โ Wings of Fire: “Wings of Fire” is the autobiography of A.P.J. Abdul Kalam (1931โ2015), India’s 11th President and the “Missile Man of India.” Written with Arun Tiwari, it describes his journey from a humble background in Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu to becoming India’s leading aerospace scientist. The book covers his work on India’s missile programme (Agni, Prithvi) and the PSLV. It is one of the most widely read autobiographies in India and has inspired millions of young people. Kalam received the Bharat Ratna in 1997.
๐ S. Radhakrishnan โ Teacher’s Day: Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan (1888โ1975) was India’s first Vice-President (1952โ1962) and second President (1962โ1967). He was a distinguished philosopher and scholar of comparative religion. His birthday, 5 September, is celebrated as Teachers’ Day in India. He received the Bharat Ratna in 1954 โ one of the first three recipients. His books on Indian philosophy are considered classics in the field.
