Why in news?
The Government of Andhra Pradesh has launched the Indra Dhanassu initiative, a welfare programme aimed at improving the social inclusion, mobility, and economic security of Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) across the state.
Free Bus Travel Facility: Under the scheme, the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) will provide free bus travel to eligible persons with disabilities who fall under Section 2 (ZC) of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (RPwD) Act, 2016 and have 40% or more disability.
Concession for Escorts: Individuals accompanying eligible PwDs as escorts will receive a 50% concession in bus fares while travelling in the designated APSRTC bus services.
