President of India Appoints New Governors for Several States and Union Territories:

News: President Droupadi Murmu has appointed Governors in different States and Union Territories. The Governor of Himachal Pradesh, Shiv Pratap Shukla, has been appointed as Governor of Telangana. Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Varma has been appointed Governor of Maharashtra. Former Bihar Assembly Speaker Nand Kishore Yadav has been appointed as Governor of Nagaland. Lieutenant General (Retired) Syed Ata Hasnain has been appointed as Governor of Bihar.

Article 153
of the Indian Constitution mandates that there shall be a Governor for each state. Amended by the 7th Constitutional Amendment Act of 1956, the article also allows for the same person to be appointed as Governor for two or more states.

Article 155: Article 155 of the Indian Constitution stipulates that the Governor of a state is appointed directly by the President of India by warrant under his hand and seal.

Article 156: The Governor holds office during the pleasure of the President, with a5-year term.
