  • Adopted by all 193 UN member states at the UN Sustainable Development Summit, New York, September 2015
  • Title: “Transforming Our World: The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development”
  • Contains 17 SDGs and 169 targets (with 232 unique indicators)
  • Deadline: 2030
  • Replaced the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) which ran from 2000โ€“2015
  • The 5 Ps of the 2030 Agenda: People, Planet, Prosperity, Peace, Partnership
  • Universal โ€” applies to all countries (developed and developing), unlike MDGs which focused on developing countries
  • Progress reviewed annually at the High-Level Political Forum (HLPF) under ECOSOC

Jharkhand, Bihar, and Arunachal Pradesh are among the lower-ranked states.
