Mitakshara is a legal treatise written by Vijnanesvara at the court of Chalukya king Vikramaditya VI. It is a commentary on the Yajnavalkya Smriti (law book of Yajnavalkya), and is one of the most important texts on Hindu law dealing with inheritance and property.
