🌟 Kabir — Most Important Bhakti Saint

  • Born in Varanasi; weaver (Muslim by birth, Hindu by upbringing)
  • Disciple of Ramananda
  • Rejected both Hindu rituals (idol worship, caste) and Muslim orthodoxy (namaz, fasting)
  • Preached in simple Hindi — accessible to common people
  • Famous doha: “Pothi padh padh jag mua, pandit bhaya na koi” (Reading books, the world died, but no one became wise)
  • His followers are called Kabir Panthis
  • His works are included in the Guru Granth Sahib (Sikh scripture)
⭐ Tulsidas and Ramcharitmanas: Tulsidas (1532–1623 CE) wrote Ramcharitmanas — the Hindi version of Ramayana. It is the most popular religious text in North India and is recited daily by millions. Tulsidas also wrote Hanuman Chalisa (40 verses in praise of Hanuman) — one of the most recited prayers in India. He lived during Akbar’s reign.
