- Dust storms (Andhi) β common in Rajasthan and UP
- Pre-monsoon showers:
- Mango Showers β Kerala, Karnataka β help mango ripening
- Blossom Showers β Kerala β help coffee blossoming
- Nor’westers (Kalbaisakhi) β West Bengal, Assam β violent thunderstorms from NW; help jute and rice cultivation
- Cherry Blossoms β Karnataka β help coffee
- Hottest place: Barmer (Rajasthan) β can reach 50Β°C
π Retreating Monsoon (OctβNov)
- SW monsoon withdraws from NW India in September
- October Heat β high humidity + high temperature = very uncomfortable
- Cyclones form in Bay of Bengal β hit Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Tamil Nadu coasts
- NE monsoon begins β brings rain to Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh coast
- Chennai gets most of its rain during this season (OctβDec)
