Why in News?
The Chenchu tribal community living inside the Amrabad Tiger Reserve (ATR) has opposed efforts by forest authorities to relocate them from the core forest area. The issue highlights the ongoing conflict between wildlife conservation and tribal rights in India.

About Amrabad Tiger Reserve (ATR)
- One of Indiaβs largest tiger habitats in South India
- Rich biodiversity with dense forests and wildlife corridors
- Location: Situated in Nagarkurnool and Nalgonda districts of Telangana
- Geography: Lies in the Nallamala Hills, part of the Eastern Ghats.
- Hydrology:Β TheΒ Krishna RiverΒ flows through the reserve, and its perennial streams feed theΒ SrisailamΒ andΒ Nagarjuna SagarΒ dams.
- Vegetation:Β PrimarilyΒ Southern Tropical Dry Mixed Deciduous ForestΒ and Deccan Thorn Scrub. Common species include Teak, Bamboo, Sal, and Acacia.
History:
- Earlier part of Nagarjunasagar-Srisailam Tiger Reserve
- Became a separate reserve in 2014 after Andhra Pradesh bifurcation
