Why in News?
The New START Treaty expired on February 5, 2026, ending the last major nuclear arms control pact between the United States and Russia.

New START was a nuclear arms reduction treaty between the United States and Russia with the formal name of Measures for the Further Reduction and Limitation of Strategic Offensive Arms.
